We asked Carolyn to tell us why she thinks this book is so important at this time. She wrote, “Sacred Demise is not primarily a book of information, but rather a toolkit that can be used over and over in order to help us find meaning, purpose, and inner strength throughout the ending/beginning in which we and the earth community are now embroiled.

 

“As I speak with people around the world, I hear that most of our species is sensing that something profound is happening in the world. There is a sense that nations are not just experiencing temporary ‘recessions’ or ‘downturns’ or even ‘crises,’ but rather that we are standing on an evolutionary threshold – a tipping point in the story of planet Earth. A pivotal piece of this journey is the collapse of industrial civilization which will constitute the end of the world as we have known it. The important words here are "as we have known it." This ending is also a beginning. However, in its early stages it will be painful and frightening.

“Volumes have recently been written on logistical preparation for this transition, but almost nothing, except for my book Sacred Demise: Walking the Spiritual Path of Industrial Civilization's Collapse, offers tools for emotional and spiritual preparation for the turbulence ahead. I believe it is crucial for people to read and study Sacred Demise and discuss it with other trusted allies. To do so is to feel validated in one's deep sense of an uncertain future and to feel supported in navigating it. None of us can weather the transition alone. We desperately need companions on this journey.”
