Community-Supported Garden at Genesis Farm Seeks Greeters

May 26, 2010

Help to greet on food pick-up days

As shareholders in the Community-Supported Garden at Genesis Farm, we are the community. The support that we can offer is not only financial but also volunteering. We – Wendy Miller and Sheri Raupp – volunteer as the "greeter" coordinators.

Greeters are present on the weekly pick-up days – Tuesdays and Fridays. It’s not a difficult job, but it’s very helpful because it frees up the farmers to focus their energies on farming. It’s also enjoyable because it creates a welcoming atmosphere in the food distribution center and fosters communication among shareholders.

Volunteers can pick one of three different shifts: 12-2 pm, 2-4 pm and 4-6 pm. The greeter welcomes shareholders, keeps the vegetable bins filled, directs people to the "pick your own" areas in the garden, and answers any questions people may have.

We would like to encourage every shareholder to take at least one 2-hour shift during the season. We guarantee you will enjoy it!
