When the world is very different than it is today . .
As the nights lengthen and days grow colder, everyone here at Genesis Farm--from the staff to the Board of Trustees--offers you our warmest blessings during this season of celebration and reflection. We are extremely grateful for your friendship and all the ways you make our work possible.
Much of the work that is done here is quiet, small-scaled and patient. Yet every year, we witness more and more of the ideas explored at Genesis Farm emerging from grass-roots initiatives carried by hundreds of like-minded groups and individuals throughout the world, thus linking our contribution to an emerging world-wide movement of people and networks committed to protecting and fostering the life of our planet.
You can also donate securities or stocks that have been held more than one year and are of continued value. (You would be entitled to deductions for the fair market value of the stock on the date of the gift, and you would pay no tax on the capital gain value of the gift shares.)
Sincerely,
December 31, 2010
Will you tell your children about Genesis Farm and the good work you helped it do?
Message from the Chair of the Genesis Farm Board of Trustees
Dear Friend,
As the nights lengthen and days grow colder, everyone here at Genesis Farm--from the staff to the Board of Trustees--offers you our warmest blessings during this season of celebration and reflection. We are extremely grateful for your friendship and all the ways you make our work possible.I invite you to read what is now an annual tradition, Miriam MacGillis's year-end reflections on the unfolding challenges facing us and our children, and the vision for Genesis Farm in the coming months and years. You'll see that it paints a picture of how critical the work is and it evokes the question, "What is Earth asking of us?"
I have been a supporter of Genesis Farm for many years and am now the chair of its Board of Trustees. I have found over the years that the Farm’s solid and consistent work is powerfully transformative. It helps people find clarity and courage. It is an ally on which people can rely during these tumultuous times and those still to come. It has touched my life deeply and I wouldn’t be surprised to know that it has touched yours.
As a small, grassroots nonprofit organization, Genesis Farm relies on people who believe in its work. Please join me in supporting the work of Genesis Farm by making a generous donation to its Annual Fund.Your gift will make a real difference in helping Genesis Farm continue to reach out into the world, helping people find the clarity and the courage to effect real, tangible change.
As a friend of Genesis Farm, you know the value of the work that is done here:
- Sharing the understandings of our lives on a living planet in a still-evolving Universe;
- Fostering ecological restoration through collaboration with others who work to promote bioregionalism, permaculture, biodynamic agriculture and the emerging Transition movement;
- Protecting the "the common good," the rights of Earth to sustain and foster the elements and conditions for all life to continue into the future.
Each year, Genesis Farm offers a rich diversity of programs, events, seminars and courses. A small number of generous foundations also add their support to this work, as do the many, many people who contribute to the ongoing memorial program. These sources of support, however, are not enough to sustain the physical infrastructure of these lands and buildings or the dedicated people whose efforts make possible our work.
We rely on this Annual Funding Appeal, which consists of donations from supporters like you, to keep this work going. We can’t do it without you.
There are several ways to make your contribution. You can, of course, mail a check, made out to Genesis Farm, in the enclosed return envelope. You can donate online or if you’d like, you can call our office (908-362-6735) with your credit card and charge your donation. All donations are tax-deductible.
Some of our generous supporters have made bequests to Genesis Farm. A bequest may be for a specific dollar amount, a percentage or fraction of the estate or it may take the form of a trust. (The taxable amount of your estate is reduced by the value of any charitable bequests.)
However you choose to give, it would be greatly appreciated and help Genesis Farm do our work in service to the future of all those generations to come.
In the coming years, when the world looks, acts and runs very differently than it does today, what will you say when your children, or children's children, ask what you did to stop, or prepare for, the changes? What will you tell them? Will you tell them about Genesis Farm and the good work you helped it do?
Sincerely,Elsie Bernauer, O.P.
Chair, Genesis Farm Board of Trustees
P.S. We are very sensitive to the fact that the current economic instability is making times difficult for many people. Please know that we appreciate whatever gift you can give, no matter how small. We are also aware that many people find it easier to give a small amount each month, rather than a lump sum at one time. To that end, we have a feature on our website's Donate page, and on the enclosed reply card, offering the option of pledging a small amount each month, as little as $10. You simply set it up once and it automatically is charged to your credit card monthly.
