Join us in Trenton to Rally Against Fracking in the Delaware River Watershed
November 14, 2011
The drinking water of 15 million people in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Delaware is at stake. It is imperative that every citizen in these states become knowledgeable and involved in the decision to allow or disallow this drilling.
As many of you already know:
-
“Fracking” for natural gas is being cited by industries worldwide as the best alternative to replace dependency on dirty coal, unpredictable foreign oil and dangerous nuclear energy.
-
Drilling in states like Texas, Oklahoma, Wyoming and Pennsylvania reportedly has created unprecedented destruction of aquifers, rivers, wells, communities and health.
-
The entire region of the Delaware and Hudson River watersheds is being touted as the next great bonanza region for natural gas drilling.
The decision to drill in the Delaware River Basin will be made on your behalf on November 21 at a meeting of the Delaware River Basin Commission by five people: the governors of New Jersey, New York, Delaware and Pennsylvania with a federal representative of the Army Corp of Engineers. They claim authority over the future of this river and the drinking water of 15 million people as well as the future generations of all species.
Join us at the Trenton rally, which begins at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, November 21, to make sure our voices are heard during the decisive meeting of the Delaware River Basin Commission from 10am to noon. We will represent our resistance to the hurried and untested claims of the benefits of fracking without the responsible science-based evidence of its safety. Join us and legions of others who will pour into Trenton from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and New York to voice our opposition to hydraulic drilling for gas.
