We need a common and compelling vision of the nature of the Universe and the role of the human within it....Only such a vision has a chance of awakening the deep psychic energies necessary to shape a new era of health, well-being, and true prosperity.
Brian Swimme, professor of cosmology, California Institute of Integral Studies

Over the last 150 years we have discovered a new origin story, an epic narrative of how the world came to be as it is today. Recent advances in biology, physics, psychology, astronomy, paleontology, indeed all the sciences, have led us to new understandings of the fundamental creativity and elegance of the Universe and especially the community of Earth life. Thus to the ancient questions Where did I come from? and Who am I?, we now have new answers. These answers are so startling that they require a fundamental rethinking of our entire culture, based on a new cosmology. This New Cosmology will supply the creative energy needed to accomplish the Great Work of reinventing ourselves.

This Immersion in the New Cosmology program provides an intense, transformative experience that empowers us to re-think the meaning of our lives within this new story of Earth and Cosmos. The initial focus is on the story itself – the immensity of the galactic processes, the intimacy of four billion years of Earth life, and the new sense of our identity emerging from these understandings. The second half focuses on the implications of the new story – the Great Work of making radical changes in our human activities and attitudes in order to reinvent ourselves in personal, professional, and societal contexts.

Students attend lectures, engage in discussion, do rituals, cook with whole foods, garden, and explore the farmland and bioregion. There is also time to explore the library of over 2,500 volumes.

Comments from previous Earth Literacy program participants at Genesis Farm:

“Imagine a place and time where your soul can be lifted, your mind can be challenged, your body can be nourished and your dreams can be supported and enlarged. This is such a time. This is such a place.”

“I can’t imagine a more nourishing, inspiring, and informative experience.”

“If like me, others with little prior awareness of the extent to which the earth is being destroyed and how technology is NOT going to fix that, I would say get to Genesis Farm and find out NOW. I would tell them they would benefit greatly by the learning they’ll receive as well as the hopefulness that permeates the air at the Farm – being an actual attempt to live and function on the planet holistically. The immersion experience is spiritually based and practical in its application.”

“The format and process were excellent. Some things are very hard to deal with, and there was a balance of good/bad news; empowerment and possibilities.”

“This program helps us to see beyond recycling and understand what we are facing and the difficult choices we will have to make.”

“This course helps us to look at the damage we’ve done and are doing to Earth in a way that is realistic and empowering for change. Understanding the grandeur and beauty of Earth systems is fundamental in learning how to be a human who is part of the whole, loving the whole and living for the good of the whole of life.”

“This place felt like home from day one. Every need was covered. We were well fed – some of the best food I have ever eaten. Nothing fancy….simple…wholesome….graciously presented…an embodiment of the abundant life.”

“The hospitality here is the welcome, nurturance and support of the Earth herself! You are so in tune with Earth systems and the powers of the Universe that you share those at every level. The integration and wholeness here reflects the web of life! Thanks for ALL you have done and are doing to be true and live the Great Work.”
