We see Earth as our primary teacher. Thomas Berry, a major thinker and writer about our scientific understandings of the cosmos, views Earth within the solar system as a self-emergent, self-propagating, self-nourishing, self-educating, self-governing, self-healing and self-fulfilling community. These are seven basic patterns of Earth activity. To reinvent human culture in sustainable forms within particular bioregions and the entire Earth community, we must transform these basic patterns of activities in such a way that life is enhanced.
