Experience the beauty and simplicity of construction with baled straw,
while learning its benefits, design principles, construction techniques,
and ways of working with building regulations. The workshop includes
hands-on experience in building a straw bale structure at Genesis Farm.
Presenter
Ron Hornung says "My experience supervising two straw bale construction
projects at Genesis Farm has convinced me that it is a realistic, easily
understood approach for do-it-yourselfers. In terms of costs and environmental
accountability it is a highly desirable, responsible way to build. As
pioneers in building with bales in this region, we have resolved many
issues that will contribute to the success of others."
Workshop leaders: Ron Hornung teaches and consults after 30 years
as a self-employed designer and builder. John Hall's vision for his
own company - Barko Building - is constructing 100% green buildings.
Bob Wisniewski is an engineering, energy and construction consultant.
Jim Weinrich is coordinator of the lands and buildings at Genesis Farm.
